Cardboard Baseball Rating Program Notes

Batters with a "*" after their name are left handed batters

Batters with a "#" after their name are switch hitters

Pitchers with a "*" after their name are left handed pitchers

To rate a season, got to baseball-reference.com and select the season you wish to rate.

Start with Batting stats. Go to the "Batting" dropdown box and select "Standard Hitting". Go to the "player standard batting" section and uncheck the "Hide non-qualifiers for rate stats". The hover your cursor over "share & more" Then click on "Get as Excel Workbook (experimental)". Save the workbook in a place and as a name that you can easily access. Open the workbook that you just saved. You will probably get a message asking if you really want to open the spreadsheet. Click "yes". Highlight and copy all of the data up to the last batter listed. Open the cardboard baseball rater spreadsheet and select the "Batting" tab. "Paste Special" the data you copied as "values" in cell A1.

To create pitching cards, the process above is identical.

Place the year and city or team name you are rating on the control tab of the spreadsheet in the yellow box.

Fielding ratings will have to be calculated manually. I am not talented enough with Excel to automate this.

Your printer margins will probably be different than mine. So, you will need to select the print area, and set the print margins.
